New Cafe For Beach Goers?

You may have heard there is a proposal in front of the Park District for a new Dog Beach Cafe. The Cafe would be located in the south-east corner of our parking lot in a "tasteful permanent structure" to be constructed by the Park District.  The Cafe will be run by a private individual, just like other vendors in the Park. A percentage of the profits from the Cafe will go to the Park District, but will not necessarily benefit the Dog Beach directly. The effect of the Cafe on the number of parking spots in the lot is TBD.  The ADA parking spots that will be displaced by the Cafe will most likely be relocated to the south-west corner of the parking lot where there is currently "unoficial" regualr parking spots.

The Cafe will be open from March to November and would sell coffee, pastries, sandwiches and snacks, dog treats, toys, etc. The vendor says he will provide picnic tables with a view of the lake, porta potties and hand sanitizer, and maybe even a doggy drinking fountain. The Vender states he is committed to keeping the Cafe area clean and ample trash and recycling containers will be provided.  He is also offering to accept donations to Mondog, and to participate in our monthly clean ups and events.

Coadministration may spark a reduction in sildenafil AUC and C max 10mg cialis. It irritates the urinary and genital tract which enable it to cause infection, scarring, and burning from the mouth and throat buy cialis 10mg Sold at .

What do you think? Is this a much needed connivance and a great place for coffee and a snack with your dog, or just another distraction for your dog and not something for you? Voice your opinion by participating in our 2011 Beach User Survey.

Added 3/17/11- The survey has ended, but you can still leave your comments.

No thank you to the cafe. My dog spends a lot of time looking for food on the beach, and I have a feeling this cafe might somehow provide more for her to get into. Really unnecessary.

Porta potties would get so gross in the summer with the huge crowds, as well as discarded food in trash cans. I don't think people are going to starve for the hour or two that they have their dogs at the beach. If anything, the cafe will encourage owners to pay less attention to their dogs.

Kristi- The cafe would be for-profit, and run by a private individual. He will do what ever he wants with the profits. Mondog has no say in where the money would go.

This is a great idea. As Beth Smith mentioned, people=money. Im in favor of it if a percentage of the restaurant's profits go to helping animals in need.

Ditto to KR!! This is a money issue for a private party not anything that would benifit the dogs. The parking is limited already! The trash cans are consistently overflowing and folks already neglect to watch their pups. Keep It Simple Stupid. No need to add more congestion into the mix

Having a cafe at the dog beach will be a convenience for me. I usually stop before the beach for coffee or a snack and to have it there is a good plan. I can spend more time playing with my dogs.

i also think this is a horrible idea. it will lead to even more congestion and overall trash and mess. please try and squelch this idea.

KR- Mondog is not proposing this Cafe, it's being proposed by a private individual who is working with the Concessions people at the Park District. They have wanted to put something at the beach for years. The dog beach is a very high traffic area and people = money.

The Park District has been informed about the fence, but I don't think they'll get to it till it's warmer out.

This cafe is a HORRIBLE idea! You need to focus on keeping the beach SAFE and CLEAN (and fixing the fence!), not giving people a place to buy more overpriced coffee, which they will then throw on the beach. There is too much trash there already, why would you add to it?!

Plus, we need those parking spaces, and the entrance should be a safe place for dogs, not a place for people to hang out eating sandwiches. People are already too distracted when they are supposed to be watching their dogs! PLEASE do not go forward with the cafe.
